What is Carbon?

Coal, wood, coconut shells, peat, and lignite are natural raw materials rich in carbon. At JY Corporation, we primarily use coconut shells to produce high-performance, eco-friendly activated carbon.

What is Activated Carbon?

Steam Activation
At around 1000°C, steam reacts with the carbonized raw material, creating countless micropores on the carbon surface.
Chemical Activation
A chemical agent, such as phosphoric acid, is mixed with the raw material and then heat-treated to produce a uniformly porous structure.

The key characteristics of activated carbon include a large surface area, high adsorption capacity, and porous structure.

Large Surface Area
One gram of activated carbon has a surface area of 500–1500㎡, equivalent to 2 to 7 soccer fields.
Porous Structure
Contains pores of varying sizes, which are the key to its adsorption performance.
Excellent Adsorption Capacity
Through adsorption, molecules from gases or liquids diffuse into the pores and bind there, effectively removing impurities and contaminants.
